Polycultural Institute

The proposed Polycultural Institute at Penn State is a materials testing center for organic materials with architectural applications. The complex consists of an exhibition hall, classrooms, lab space and residences for visiting professors.

This was a collaborative project with Laura Wakes-Ramos and Kyrie Martin in the fall of 2013.

My responsibilities were orthographic drawings, renderings, and the section model. This project was modeled in Revit, and rendered with phtotoshop. Sections and plans drawn imported into CAD and post-processed in Illustrator.

The model was made from concrete, wood and rammed earth.

Raniero Corbelletti who was an excellent draftsman. Submissions must be hand drawn.

This year we were given a drawing by Perry Kulper and we were asked to translate it into a building.

Penn State offers a studio option where students can learn more about digital fabrication, so I took it to round out my digital skillset.

The course covered NURBS and polygon modelling through excersizes in Rhino, Pepakura, TopMod and Maya.
